Back in 2009 when sweetFrog’s founder Derek Cha, wife Annah, and their two children moved to Richmond, VA, they realized their new community lacked the warm friendly environment found in frozen yogurt shops that scattered the West Coast. The entrepreneur in Derek was attracted to the simplicity of the business model and the low costs associated with establishing the stores. Even in the midst of an unfriendly economy, Derek knew the time was right to enter the frozen yogurt market. So with a little bit of hope, a lot of faith, a dash of prayer, and the support of his friends and family, Derek opened the very first sweetFrog store in the Short Pump district of Richmond.
Today, six years later, sweetFrog has continued to grow by leaps and bounds with over 350 stores operating in 25 states. sweetFrog is making huge splashes in the Dominican Republic, Egypt, and the UAE with even more locations being developed in markets around the globe.
Much of the recent growth and prosperity of the brand comes as a result of sweetFrog’s new CEO, Pat Galleher. In 2015, Pat along with his investment group, Boxwood Capital Partners, became the majority owners of the sweetFrog franchise. Under his leadership, the sweetFrog corporate offices have expanded to welcome some of the brightest minds in the industry—focusing on assisting and facilitating the future growth of our franchisees and the sweetFrog brand.
No matter where you travel, our goal is to ensure you find our signature pink-and-green stores.
sweetFrog is proud to host kids from all generations each and every day. When you visit a sweetFrog location, you see kids with our coloring books, teens wearing hip sweetFrog t-shirts and hoodies, entire families enjoying some quality time, and couples on first dates or celebrating anniversaries.
Like most theme parks, our guests are drawn into our magical atmosphere, where they can sit back, relax, reconnect, and enjoy their latest froyo combinations.
Our goal with each and every sweetFrog franchise location is to build hoppiness within our communities—uniting the young and old members from all socioeconomic classes who call our communities home.
We have the classic flavors that mature audiences enjoy, tart flavors, new and exciting seasonal flavors, and so much more. No matter what your age or status, let sweetFrog help you unleash your inner tadpole.
